Colleen – these leaves are beautiful!!! The greens are so rich! Be aware that the secondary veins usually taper from the main vein as they move to the outside edges. Secondary veins often also don’t go directly to the edge and they may curve up as they near the edge and become even smaller. You are almost there!

Hi Colleen- the colors are beautiful and the skin texture and patterning is great!!!! The cast shadows are really throwing me off! Based on the highlight on the intact apple the cast shadows are going in the wrong direction. I think the cut piece on the top right is probably lying on the table surface, but it looks like it is standing on end.…[Read more]

The changes have all ready made a big difference Karen! I think you could do more toning – both to the stem (which is looking much better in a stronger green) and to the flower. Think of the toning exercises where on the stem you are doing the arc toning. Even though it is a light colored flower you still need to have distinguishable toning so…[Read more]

Hi Renata- I don’t think I would add additional leaves till after you put in the flower – if you need to. This is looking wonderful and I am anxious to see the flower!

Thanks, Jill. I’d never seen red strawberry flowers, but that’s what the nursery had, hanging basket style. I hope they taste good!

Thanks, Katy. Yes, I am hesitant to bring any darkness to it because I really like the bright yellow and don’t want to muddy it -but I think it does need a little attention. My shadows need work. I might just do a new version and mess about more with the cast shadow.
