Botanical Subjects: Hydrangeas
Workshop Description
If you want to draw hydrangeas but are intimidated by the puzzle of drawing a whole cluster of tiny blooms, this workshop is for you. With a combo of instructor demonstrations and feedback on your work, we’ll help you put those puzzle pieces together, one sepal at a time. Explore how to capture the gentle forms and natural color transitions of hydrangeas’ lush flower clusters with care and clarity.
What We’ll Practice
🌿 Create the illusion of realistic volume using a simple sphere shading technique
🎨 Capture soft color transitions with colored pencils and watercolor pencils
🌼 Highlight the charming structure of sepals (those petal-like shapes that protect each bud)
🌸 Tie it all together to render an elegant composition of a cohesive, luminous flower cluster
