Zoom Workshop 73: Nightshades

Sunday, August 7: 3pm – 7pm EST

Thursday, August 11: 4pm – 6pm EST

Description: It’s hard to believe that some of our favorite summer vegetables are in the same plant family, especially because they all look so different. We will explore what makes a plant in the same family  (similar flowers for starters). Students can then plan a composition combining a few different  fruits and vegetables or focus on one plant in this family. We also learn about the different edible and poisonous parts of these plants. Potatoes are the tubers connected to the roots, while tomatoes, eggplant, peppers and tomatillos are all fruits. Yes botanically speaking they are fruits, and not vegetables!
