I made changes based on your feedback. The improved version has a bit more substance to it and I see it less as a failure now. The scales on the bulbous part are supposed to be somewhat fluffy on the edges. Maybe with more experience I can render those better next time.

The inside of the onion skin and the petals I found were very shiny and I find it hard to represent. It seems with real subjects there is more thinking to do to choose an angle and appreciate the volumes, but less to imagining and therefore it’s easier to get closer to the truth.
