The green here uses the purple for the shading. Although red is the compliment, I was thinking that the red/blue in a purple plays to the blue/yellow in the green. Yellow is going to be the hard one to darken.

It gave it more form. I also made the apple rounder. Although I saw and measured my lopsided apple fairly accurately, I wanted to see if altering the shape made it look more aesthetically pleasing.

Still, covering the entire feather with the yellow made the black a gray and it needed several layers to become close to black again. Therefore, I tried several patterns alternating yellow ans black.

I need to start much lighter than I did. And keeping the light source on the left was difficult with such small root. Need to keep sharpening the pencil!
