Hi Rita- this is great! The two limes on the right are exceptionally good. You captured the surface texture in the highlight too! They really stand out because the other lime and all the leaves are all the same colors. Personally, I would add some more green in places on the leaves to balance out the two dark green limes. I don’t think the composition needs the cut view. I like it the way it is, but I can here Wendy’s voice in my head telling you to add it. Take a look at the top leaf. The center vein on the front should connect with the center vein on the back side.
Hi Rita, Great to see the finished drawing! Beautiful! The little limes look so much rounder now. I might tone that really dark shadow on the top of the right lime down a bit. I love that rich dark color! and Concerning the slice, I’m torn, the piece looks so nice now. But I can also see where a slice would be an interesting element. And make it more of a “Botanical Illustration”. Wendy does this so well. She gives the viewer an education without them realizing it.
I agree with Doug about the leaves. I do love that you have observed and beautifully included the orange and yellow variegations. But I’d like to see more of that middle value green on a few of them.
Wondering if I should still add a cut slice in upper right corner?
