I really like this study, Dee, and all your discussion about burnishing. It’s so helpful when people share their process! I’m a little confused about the identification, though. I’m not seeing an oak seed (aka acorn). Could it be an oak gall?? Or is it the angle you chose? Just wondering.

                          Thank you Wendy! This leaf was actually on its way to fall color. I used yellow and red watercolors as a base, but I got way to much green on as I worked at toning the veins. Unintended consequence! Guess I should have toned with darker yellow and reds or browns?

                                                                              Thanks, Marci!! It grows by my porch, so I sat out with the porch light and a lantern. Biggest problem was the humidity (83%!) softening my paper so I had trouble laying down color. The leaves especially suffered, as they came last. Still, it was really fun!
