This is one of my favorite ferns and grows all over in my woodland, sometimes it hangs out with Joe Pye and the meadow plants, sometimes it chills out in the cool shady hollow. The sterile fronds turn yellow and disappear as the first cold weather hits but the fertile fronds are poking up all over year round. I’m not sure if there are any fresh specimens in the woods this time of year and my original specimen has long wilted so I may need to work from a photo. The challenge for me is how to keep all those flowers in the raceme from becoming just a tangle.</p>

There is a company here in America that sells plants of Arisaema sikokianum which they propagate by tissue culture so they don’t need to take plants from the wild. But when I got to the flower I just wanted to be finished. So I short changed the flower. I’d like to do the whole drawing over again but now Trillium grandiflorum are open. I think they would look best on craft paper.
