Working on some prune plums. I was allowed to take a small branch with a few plums on it from our community garden, although I’m going so slowly that I’m now working from a photo of them I took! Any suggestions gratefully received.

Amanda, these are looking lovely. I particularly enjoy the combination of colors here; something about it really conveys the surface of these plums to me. I think you could emphasize the dark tones on the plum that’s in the very back; just so that we get a little more depth within the cluster. Great job really focusing your attention on the focal point of this drawing before getting carried away with the leaves, etc. I think this whole composition is going to look great. Can’t wait to see what’s next! It’s too bad they didn’t last long enough to put a cut section on the bottom right!! Maybe another time; or if you can get back to that tree in the springtime, you could add a flower! 🙂
Thank you Vern! I agree, I could emphasize the back plum more. Hmmm, I could always do a hack and just buy a plum and use for a cross-section! And I like the idea of going back for a flower in the spring!
