Striking! This is really lovely, and sensitively drawn. Those wavey/ruffly petals are fantastic, and I can feel them curling really nicely. This drawing is absolutely gorgeous as is. If you want to get some more 3D form, I have a couple of suggestions. Can you predict what I’m going to suggest? That ball of reproductive parts could be toned like a sphere as a whole to give it that 3D feel. And then you can think about the whole group of petals as a cup, and tone those upper left petals that are in the inside of the cup. Lesson 5 has a good image that describes this. But it’s already wonderful. Love it!
@pjthompson and @sam-mcwilliams, I am sorry to have missed the webinar. Thank you for your comments – I appreciate them and will work on getting a few areas darker. For the flower, I used gray colored pencils and a bit of gray watercolor. I had read somewhere that you should use cooler grays for the further away areas and warmer for areas closer up but I’m not sure that would apply to this. What do you think? I have never done a monotone piece before and, while fun, it was tricky! I did tape off the edges and painted black gouache for the background. After I added the background, I had to make many adjustments but recognize that I should make a few more! Thanks again!
This was an experiment, tried gray and some graphite for the white flower.

Great, thank you Pam! I do feel it needs more but was a little scared to do more. I really had no idea how this one would turn out.
