I love the graphic quality of the composition Susan. If you wanted to add more realism to the drawing there are a couple of things you could do. Even though the scapes are narrow it is possible to have a highlight and a small range of tones to convey that the scapes are elongated cylinders. A highlight and range in tones on the onion heads would also help to enhance their form. Lastly, following the light source you establish making the above changes you can add cast shadows to the scapes where they cross each other. This will help the viewer easily see which scapes are in the front, middle and behind.
Hi Susan, it’s really fun to see all of these drawings of yours. You have been prolific. Welcome to the art feed. I’m excited to see you go through the botanical basics exercises. You have great drawing skills, and I think those exercises will take your drawings to the next level. It’s going to be fun!!!
I love ‘em. Delicious!

Thank you Doug for your nice comments. I realize there is a flatness to some of my drawings so I will return to this piece and add highlights.
