Nice rich color, Richard. You are getting the hang of placing the highlights and darks in the right spots, and are beginning to get some really nice form. I would like to see you use a really really sharp colored pencil and lay those layers down more lightly to try to get smoother toning and transition of value. Try holding your colored pencil at the back end so that when you are toning, you can’t press too hard. Build those layers slowly. On this pear, there is a yellowish halo around between the main highlights and the browner local color of the pear. Try to blend/feather that yellow into the brown, and blend that brown into that yellow a bit more smoothly. Same thing with the white highlight. Try to make that transition less abrupt. You are starting to do that nicely in the top highlight. The dark thick line of that cast shadow also ends quite abruptly, and could transition more smoothly. Cast shadows are so hard! Keep going, Richard. You are doing great!
