Laura, here’s a photo of the silk floss tree in bloom. It’s called silk floss because the seed pods are full of soft “silk”. That people used for pillows. The trees grow very tall. I pretty much only find flowers after they’ve fallen….
I think it’s only in bloom the month of August and a little of September. The winter is in the 40-50s at night. Days 60s. A lot of the plants I’ve been drawing and looking up do originate in places like Australia, Mexico, Malaysia and other temperate places. There are mountains behind us here and the moderates the temperature, too. Glad you like the photo. The tree grows along a cut street here!

Oh my, that is a beautiful tree. Is it covered w/blossoms year-round? I guess it grows in a tropical location? Thanks so much for posting the picture!
