Hi Douglass, I love that you are concentrating on leaves! And basil is one of my favorite leaves. (Admittedly more for the culinary potential than the artistic.) With your drawing here, this is a good start. I really see the folding nature of the leaves. But I want to see more darks and different colors, especially in the shadows. If you think of your value scale this drawing only goes up to about 6 or 7. Perhaps add some indigo to bring out that darker value range. Also, congrats on working with an embosser. It is a powerful tool and can be quite useful, but be careful not to get too heavy handed. It is one of those techniques that takes a lot of practice.
