Hi Ishbel, I love the delicate droopy petals. and the subtleness of the stamens! I also like the purples and pinks that combine to make an interesting overall color. However, the dark purple shadowing the upper right draws my eye too much. Maybe it should be lighter or thiner or more subtly rendered or balanced with other areas of the rose. I’d also like to see a bit more care taken with the light on the stem. I want to see a more distinct shadow side and highlight.
Ishbel, I know we talked about this in the webinar, but I wanted to also mention how much I like this composition. The angles of the stem look so natural. The curves of your lines are beautiful, and I love the way they move the eye around the page. And the positioning of that dark bud along with the curve of that leaf under it lead the eye right to the beautiful focal point of the center of that main flower. Very nicely done.
