I really love the light sensitive feel of this. It’s lovely. I know what you mean about figuring out the light while drawing in the field. It can be tough to get the brain to imagine the light source. It’s something that definitely gets easier with practice. One thing that I sometimes do when I’m drawing in the field is try to position myself in a way that when I’m looking at my subject I see it’s cast shadow projecting to the right and behind it. This isn’t always possible, but when it is, I find that it can help. You did a great job with this, and I think you imagined the light source really well!
