Workshop Description
Grab your favorite root vegetables, and dig into botanical drawing! Learn how to turn humble veggies into lifelike illustrations using colored pencil and watercolor. Even if you’re brand new to realistic art, you’ll start to understand structure and shading as we build a foundation with basic shapes like spheres and cylinders. Explore techniques for capturing texture, vibrant color, and natural form.
What We’ll Practice
💡 Easy shading tricks using spheres and cylinders to build up form
✏️ Layering watercolor and colored pencil for rich, earthy textures
🎨 Botanical drawing basics like shape, tone, and color, all applied to ravishing root vegetables
🥕 Sketching from life using real vegetables as your model
🔪 Cutting open our subjects and adding compelling cross-sections to our composition
