This was meant to be a quick little practice on light source on different shapes. I’m still getting started with Wendy’s techniques, however, I’m really struggling with light source. I think that I understand where it should go but I struggle getting it to look right and then end up going darker over it! Any recommendations are greatly appreciated. I sort of gave up on the two right-side upper pink flowers. Thank you!
Becky, you are doing great. Lovely saturated colors and nice smooth toning. Light source can take a while to get right. I’m seeing some nice highlights on the red and yellow tulip, and you are starting to get some darker tone on the right side of it. You can just push that some more. Sis you so a grisaille layer before aadding the local color?
I meant “did you do a grisaille layer before adding local color?”. Little punches of really dark darks in the the little v’s where some of the petals meet will help with that 3D form, as well.

I did the grisaille layer on the two tulips and will make sure that I do that going forward. Thank you!
