Hi Becky-I would lighten the areas flanking the highlight a little. The left edge will be a 3-4 on the tone scale and fade lighter as it moves right toward the highlight. You have a good range of tones to the left of the highlight. You will have to alter it a little after you lighten the area next to the highlight. To finish it off, the right side needs to be the darkest – #9 on the scale with a smooth transition of tones in between. Be careful to have the front curved bottom edge of the cylinder match the front curved top edge. I would not worry about putting in the reflected light or cast shadow at this point. It is more important to take your time and slowly work on those even smooth layers of tone. You should not be able to see pencil marks. It takes practice but it makes a huge difference in your work as you go thru the lessons.
