Hi Susan- you want to do the darkest toning along the right side and bottom and transition the toning lighter as you move toward the highlight. There are many sources (online, books, videos, etc) to research toning a sphere. Generally we use dark sepia for the grisailles toning but there are a lot of choices and with your berries red/violet or a medium green would work well. We usually put the grisailles toning on first to establish the highlighted and shadowed areas and then start adding the watercolor and/or color pencil. As you add the color you have to keep adjusting the toned areas so they do not get lost and you lose the form of the subject. You can still go in and add the toning now it just might be more of a challenge.
This is a nice composition and color story Susan. I would suggest adding more dark and mid-range toning on the berries to convey their round shape.
Not sure where to add toning and what colour do I use? I appreciate your comments. thanks
