Hi Catherine- you are off to a good start! When I look at the real branch the edges do not look as irregular as what you have drawn. The edges are also a little fuzzy. That might be due to the texture of the paper, but it also helps to use a really well sharpened pencil (and better yet a Verithin pencil) to make the edges more crisp. Because of the shadow caused by the actual branch on your drawing it is hard to see, but I think you need a more defined highlight and more range of dark and mid-tones to convey the branches cylindrical form.
