Working on the leaves. May have to wait awhile for access to a larger bud though. Anyone else having a problem with the large opening flower to the left reading as a ‘cross section’??? I have shaded it more to make it more 3D. I feel like it’s angle is a bit awkward, like it’s jutting out strangely??? Is that a problem for anyone else? I’m thinking of putting a curling leaf slightly overlapping the stem, maybe.

Carol, I think the addition to tone here is working, and could even be pushed a bit further. I don’t see this as a cross-section, but in the future, maybe choose a view that is just slightly tilted forward so we get a teeny glimpse of the inside of the flower. That would eliminate confusion, I think.
Carol- when I first saw the side view I did think it was a cross section. I think the deeper colors you have added has eliminated the confusion and has enhanced the drawing overall. I agree with Vern that you could push it even more. I see what you mean about the angled stem, but I don’t think it looks awkward and I wouldn’t address it until you have finished the leaf area and then decide if it still bothers you. It keeps getting better and better!
