    • What is intriguing about this Hawaii plant is the look of the fruit when it touches the ground (lower left). I did not see it when it dropped but I suspect that the fruit opens as it touches the ground. Later, it closes as it dries (lower right).

    • Hi Helene- that view of the open pod is just amazing! Consider adding a shadow cast from the center seed pod. Because of the strong contrast of the view of the open pod it really holds my eye and the other views suffer accordingly. The closed view of the pod is almost there. I think it needs a little more dark toning added in the shadowed areas and the glimpses of the seeds. The flower and leaves view gives me the impression that it is not done yet. I realize it is a light colored, delicate flower and the petals are cupped, but I think you need to enhance the cup aspect of the petals and the interior depth of the flower. Right now with the flower and the leaves I can not tell where the light is coming from. It is great to have the leaves behind the flower, but you need more darks where the leaves overlap and also the ends of the leaves down by the flower. The flower would also be casting a shadow onto some of the leaves. Adding more (appropriate) darks on the closed pod view and the flower view will heighten the contrast so they can hold their own. Great subject! You are almost there!
