There are a couple of suggestions that I can make. – You may want to be careful about trying not to outline your forms. This does have a certain nice style to it that works with the outlining, but if you want it to look more realistic, try to avoid those dark outlines at your edges. If there is an area that has a dark edge, be sure to feather that carefully back into the form. — I’m curious about the radish on the left. Is that the grisaille layer for a red radish? Or is it a white radish? If it’s a white radish, I would observe the color carefully. I would guess that there would be some yellows or light greens or light browns in there. Right now it kind of looks like it’s just in gray scale. —- You can push your light source a little more on your clusters of leaves. If you think of those clusters as a whole object, your leaves on the right would be getting more light than the leaves on the left. — Your overlaps of those leaves are looking really nice in most places, but where that middle leaf on the white radish overlaps the leaves behind it looks a little too outliney. You’ll want to feather those dark line back into the leaves behind it. — And then at the bottom of the leaves, that cluster of stems as a whole should be toned like a cylinder. — the radishes are starting to look nice and 3D, but I think you can push that light source more, especially darking the lower left sides. Hope that helps!
Hi Pam, your comments help very much. For your information, the item on the left is a very white turnip – Japanese variety. They are pure white when small. I could add some green though for contrast and colour.
Helene, I’m loving these! Those leaves are just wonderful!
Anything to improve upon? I was feeling stuck so posted it to get your input.
