Hi Cathie- I would give you the same advice for the gourd as I did for your tomato. It needs toning to give it form. We generally draw the form toning (grisailles toning) right after the sketch of the subject is complete. Once you have the toning in you start to add the color and details. There have been some amazing gourd drawings posted on the ArtFeed recently that would be great for.reference!!!
