Hi Theodora, this is Sam, the new instructor, jumping into the art feed for some commenting. Please feel free to let me know what is helpful for you in terms of feedback. I think this drawing is a stunner! I just wish I could view it in person. 🙂 I think this rose would be very flattered by it’s portrait. One thing some old school Walt Disney animators taught me – when drawing stems and branches, the long cylinder shape is rarely parallel; they advised me to watch my lines that form the opposite sides of the stem and to look carefully – does it flare out? is it irregular? Does it flare out a bit where a leaf connects? Does it kind of dip in and out? Does that make sense?
Thank you Sam. Nice to meet you. I appreciate your feedback and your advice on branches and stems. I was always afraid to tackle yellow but am enjoying attempting it now. I’ll try and add a photo of this rose. It was stunning and had the most beautiful fragrance.
