This is a great start. Now take a minute and think about your light source and how to show it in your drawing. For instance, you could use a kneaded eraser to lift out bits of highlights on those stems, and then also use a sharp colored pencil to add shadow along the right sides of the stems – think about the toning a cylinder exercises. You are off to a great start with this drawing.

Wow, Douglass, this is looking great! You really are showing so much progress. This is my favorite drawing of yours so far!!! Love seeing all the views of the flowers; your leaves are nice and delicate, and the composition itself is wonderfully lyrical and keeps me interested. Great advice from Pam, but try to preserve the delicacy of this drawing if you’re gonna go in there with the sepia…. Perhaps try some experiments with tracing paper to really conserve and save the darks for just a few places?
