You are off to a good start Douglass! There are a couple of areas I would continue to work on. The shadowed area on the leaf on the right – the part closest to the exposed back side of the leaf should be darker and have a transition of tones as it moves toward the right side. It currently reads as all one tone. The leaf in the middle that curves around – the part of the leaf that emerges from behind the stem should have darker toning (a shadow caused by the stem). That leaf before it crosses behind the stem looks darker and it shouldn’t be as it is closer to the light source. It probably would not have a shadow there at all. On the flower bud the right side is very light. Because that is the shadow side I would expect more darker tones there to convey that and also give bud more form. I am not sure what the dark shape on the flower bud on the left is.
