This is wonderful Cibyl! It has so much going for it, but there are a couple of confusing aspects too! A simple thing to correct is that the veins that are in the shadow area should not be white as they are in the areas that get more light. They might not be as dark as the leaf body, but definitely dark. The shadow areas should have more range in tones – darkest where the light can’t reach and transition lighter as the shadow edge nears the light source. The area I am most confused by is the back view of the leaf that we see on the left. Judging from your other shadowed and high lit areas I would expect the left side of the leaf to be closest to the light source and would not have the range of mid-tones (as nicely done as they are!). If possible it really helps to take pictures of your subjects appropriately lit in black and white. This helps you see where all the respective tones are and they do not get confused with what color something is, which can be very hard to separate when you are working in black and white.

Thank you!!!
