Nice job Elinor! The colors are great! I see highlights and a range of tones on the golden petals, but they are not apparent to me on the green leaves. I would expect to see shadows on the bottom leaf where a leaf crosses over it and probably where the leaves bend and meet the stem, etc.. Don’t forget highlights too! Even though stems are narrow it is possible to have a highlight and enough range of tone to convey their cylindrical form. I am glad to see an illustration of the poor maligned golden rod!
Nice, Elinor. Such a tough subject. You did a good job with all of those overlaps on those yellow flower branches. Yellows are really hard, and I think your shadow colors are successful. I would just echo Doug’s advice. Good job!
