Hi Ellie, NIce smooth transition to the hilight! I feel the spheric shape! I also really like the hue moving from reddish-orange to yellow-orange. Especially in the midtone and highlight areas. The aspect that doesn’t work for me is the color of the reflective light. You have gone to a very cool red which would work if the surface the sphere is sitting on is cool in color. Your cast shadow is neutral toward the worm side. I would either incorporate the cool red into the toning of the whole sphere then just lighten the reflective light area or change the color of your cast shadow. The transition of the reflective light also needs to be smoother and the value a tiny bit lighter. You are using hue instead of value to indicate that reflective light. You are on the right track with the cast shadow. I really like the way you feather the outer edge and push the darks right where the sphere sits on the table. My problem with it is mostly the shape, especially where the sphere sits on the table. Try to think of the light source. How the sphere is blocking the light.
