Hi Carol- you are getting good practice working on these tone scale lessons! I still see a lot of texture on the #5 square. These lessons require us to go really slow and do nice even, smooth layers of tone. You should not be able to see any whitish areas showing thru, which gives the square that textured look. I personally use tiny circles to get my coverage and make sure I have a smooth, even layer before adding another layer. This is more time consuming but I really enjoy it. Maybe you feel more comfortable doing lines or cross hatching – whatever you do creating smooth, even layers is the key!
