I found this incomplete flower on a sidewalk. Within 2 hours of drawing the flower was already starting to change shape and the drawing was far from being complete. This was a learning experience although I wish I had the complete flower.
First off Fanny, the lettering really compliments the flower. Wow! I love how you got the center so dark – it reads so well!!!! And your highlights! I am especially enthralled with the top center petal! The highlight clearly shows how the petal curves back near the top. Great job!!!! Oh the joys of drawing from real life. Subjects are opening or closing, growing or wilting, etc. Some more challenging than others.
Agreed! This lettering is excellent. The struggle of drawing flowers from life is real. Hah. It’s always good to have a few extra flowers scoped out in case you need a fresh one. 🙂 Beautiful toning here.

Thank you Vern!
Beautiful, Fanny! I agree with Doug – that center top petal – that fold, also the rich, dark center, beautiful soft toning and lovely writing.
