Fanny, this is a lovely composition with lots of graceful movement. I would revisit the leaf veining here. I like how it shows us the directionality and movement in the leaves, but I think the veins could be a bit thinner and less white. Follow the veins from the stem through the leaf and observe the way that the branching occurs. As you draw leaf veins, start from the midvein and follow the path outward toward the edges of the leaf. Sometimes it looks nice to let the veins trail off and not even reach the leaf margin! I really like the way you have used dark tones on the far right leaf. Experiment with those tones in other places on this drawing–if a leaf bends away from us, use that dark tone to show us the way the leaf bends, and even the way the surface of the leaf pillows between veins. I also really enjoy the contrast between the front and back of the leaves. I think you could show us some more veining and tones on the back sides of the leaves as well. Great work here!!
Thank you so much for your critiques. I have a hard time with this veining indeed, and I have the same issue in another drawing of nasturtium (in progress). The veining is quite crisp and the leaves are very flat. I agree my rendering isn’t very convincing. I will work more on the veining and toning 🙂
