I understand not wanting to overwork it, can’t do/learn everything on one drawing. In general in botanical drawing it helps to show clear highlights and shadow sides. Layers of watercolour greatly aid with saturating colors.

I love the addition of the flower and the text, Stephanie! Sometimes some watercolor on top can alter the color when the paper seems like it can’t take any more pencil. Try mixing up some other colors and test them out to see if you can get some more variety! I think some more well-placed bits of really dark will really give this the finishing touch, especially in the center of the flower and in the darkest overlaps. Great work, and congratulations on getting this “published!”
