This is beautiful illustration Hendrika! I would expect to see this in a magazine or book. For illustrative purposes it is amazing! If it is to be a finished botanical drawing I am missing some toning. Little things like where the dandelion stems cross and there is no shadow that one would expect there. More complicated would be the Mahonia buds, which are not toned to enhance their round shape, which would also convey which bud is in front, behind, etc,! It is especially noticeable because you did the toning on the leaves.

Love all these little treasures all on one page! I agree, these are nice illustrations, and with some toning where Doug suggested, I think they will read a little more 3-dimensional. Great work.
Thank you for your comments. Yes, I agree too re the toning. I took shortcuts and didn’t follow the guidelines I learned in the course, as I wanted to draw quickly – and I used pen to outline – but I posted because I was pleased with the end result.
