Arisaema atrorubens, “Woodland Jack-in-the-pulpit”. Coloured pencil, a bit of watercolour and graphite text on 22″ x 30″ 270 gsm Stillman & Birn watercolour, Zeta Series. A wonderful, highly forgiving paper to work on.
Suzanne, this is gorgeous! I love every part of it – the graceful leaves, the perfect green and red “berries”, roots, etc. Just a perfect composition with all it’s parts. Well done, and I wish you lots of luck!
Hi Suzanne, I am very excited to see this piece finished, as we saw it here in all it’s stages of development! The final composition is exceptional! So proud, love it, and also to be honest, a little jealous. I say that as in my time years ago as a textile designer primarily, I had a business partner, and when we saw someone’s work that we really liked, we would often say I’m a little jealous, The biggest complement we could give each other when viewing a new piece one of us had finished, was to say, I’ma little Jealous!!! So I say it to you now! Congrats! and please keep in touch with future work!
Thank you, everyone, for your encouraging comments! : ) This year of drawbotanical has been bountiful. This piece my homage to the illustrious history & practice of botanical illustration.
