I am a new member. I have a degree in art and one year of botanical art at the Ringling School of Art and Design. I switched to General Fine Arts and ended up being a floral painter using watercolors. but not at the level of this detail. I also love working in colored pencil. I am looking forward to the class, I love your work Wendy View
Lesson 1 Branches
Wow! The color and texture of the bark is amazing!
Jane, lovely color and texture here! I think you could quiet your shadows just a bit, and darken the places where the two sticks overlap. I think you could also tone just a bit more on the shadow side of each branch, so it reads more like a three-dimensional cylinder. For shadows, try using a light gray pencil and tone shadows so they are darkest next to the form and then they gradually fade out into the color of the paper. This way, they appear less like a “form” or a “shape” and more like a faint hint. I just love the texture and amount of color you included here. Great work!!
Thank you Vern I appreciate your feed back. This is an excellent on-line class!!!
