Hi Kathy- nice job on the tone bar squares! The range is pretty good, but there are a couple squares I would revisit. I think #6 could be darker. It is also a little hard to judge #2, 3 and 4 because they are sketchy. Be sure to take your time and do nice even layers of toning. You should not be able to see the pencil marks. You are off to a good start and are almost there!
Thanks for your comments Doug. I had planned to revisit the tone bar activity a bit later, just wanted to get started. I have done very little art in my life and this is my first coloured pencil/botanical art course. So I am very much a newbie. I have found that getting the dark -really dark then grading through the tones has needed a bit of practice but I do as Wendy suggests and view it like a meditation. I am taking my time with the lessons as getting the tones and combining the different colours all very new to me. Lucky hubby gets to provide feedback(yes he is nice about it!)
