It if fun to shade the spheres after the watercolor base. I’m always tempted to get color gradation with the watercolor but it gets blotchy. Would you suggest doing it in stages, letting it dry in between each? Or do you think it’s best to do just want and send the wash towards the highlight?
I like to build layers, letting them dry in between. Don’t worry too much about blotchiness. Your colored pencil layers will cover up any blotchiness that you see. It’s one of the things that’s really nice about combining watercolor with colored pencil.
