yes it is relaxing, and now you can try some color blends where you add in an additional color to get darker shadows. The shadow color can vary depending on the hue of the color. Dark sepia is one option but might be too strong on lighter colors. What darker colors would you use for these blends do you think?
I was trying complimentary colors. The green here uses the purple for the shading. Although red is the compliment, I was thinking that the red/blue in a purple plays to the blue/yellow in the green. Yellow is going to be the hard one to darken.

I love the darkest sphere at the bottom of this page–very 3d and convincing. Great idea to use purple as a shading color for green; you are totally right about the relationship between the red/blue and blue/yellow. Sometimes Earth Green or Gray are good colors to shade yellow, depending on the hue.
