I would say that to convince me that the branch on top is not floating but leaning on the mossy branch you should work on the overlapping area a bit creating a nice shadow below the top branch on the mossy branch.

So fun! What kind of plant is the branch in the upper left? I like how muscular the folds of the bark are. They seem very 3-D to me.

I’m not sure, my husband brought me a collection of branches and sticks frim Sonoma County. They’re likely from a California Live Oak.
