Hi Andrea, Thanks for sending the photos as well. If I hadn’t seen the photo I wouldn’t have been able to recognize the species. That should be your number 1 goal. I recommend if you have more of these flowers to draw, study them first under magnification. Study the way the petals attach to the stem. Perhaps draw the flower enlarged so you can clearly show the structure easily. In your open flower the color is excellent. I think the drawing is out of proportion and perhaps the perspective is not correct. Again, perhaps draw one flower enlarged to really understand the structure. Love these leaves as well. You can get a bit more toning on the the light areas of the leaves so we understand them a bit more as well. Such a fun plant! I could draw this plant over and over again!
Andrea, the colours in both the facing flower & the leaves is so invitingly rich!

Andrea, I think this is a good start, and I agree with Wendy that perhaps some thorough investigation of the structure of this flower is in order. You’ve shown us a lot of good information, but perhaps another view of the flower and/or some dissections/enlargements would make its structure clearer. What interesting leaves! Really beautiful.
Okay, well I have’n’t had time to rework this yet, and will be traveling so I can’t participate in the webinar, so I’ll have to do more work in June. I spent a lot of time on the leaves and I believe that they are quite accurate. I’ll work more on the flower structure.
The foliage has an ineffable grace ..I love the patterns and colours on the leaves…
