Ooooooh! Marci, I LOVE the darks in the garlic head. The cast shadow on the one clove on the right is the only place that feels a little too dark maybe. But perhaps all it needs is some more gradation or feathering (darkest where it touches the whole head, and lighter as the shadow fades to the right?) I really love the whole bulb and I think the dark there gives it great depth.
Thanks Vern. I will soften that shadow, but believe it or not, it really is that dark. But I do agree with you – perhaps when I soften it and add color it will look better!

Marci, this is beautiful! I love the color and how the tooth in front feels big and in front!

Thanks, Sheila! I loved this garlic head – when I opened it and saw that “stem” and the purple-y colors, I knew I had to draw it!
The bulb on the right side in the back has perhaps too much dark sepia but everywhere else it looks great!
What an interesting subject! I’ve never seen a bulb like that. The outer leaves really look papery!
Thanks Wendy, I hope to post the finished one today!
Hi Liz! It’s garlic! I was amazed by the purple in it!
