Lovely, Marci. All so convincing. I like that you’ve shown us the basic drawing too. The seeds are luminescent. What colours did you use for them? And did you use watercolour underneath?
Suzanne, thank you. Those seeds are a bit tedious. For each little seed, I’m using dark sepia to tone (as usual), then ultramarine over the dark sepia and a little into some of the un-toned areas (leaving some white paper), then dark red over the blue and into part of the white, then finish the remaining white space with alizarin crimson. And of course, then I keep layering. And, if I layer too much (which I tend to do often), I actually put a little scarlet red over all of it to brighten it a bit. I did not use water color. I’m wishing I had left my highlights a little bigger, though. I’m more than half done with seeds now – had to put it away – felt like I was going blind! Hope to finish it next week.
