Beautiful observation of color and pattern, May! Work on building that full range of tones even in color, so that we really feel the 3-dimensionality of this apple. A few more dark bits here and there on the shadow side and in the well where the stem connects will really make this pop! Also, pay attention to the overall shape of your specimen as you draw. That bottom left edge looks a little straight. For me, that particular edge of a farm gives me trouble, and I find that rotating my paper can sometimes help me create a smoother, rounded, curved edge on that side. I’m sure it has something to do with the way my wrist moves, but maybe that trick will help you in the future. 🙂 Awesome work here.
Hello Vern, I’m glad I had the time to subscribe for the second time. The tutorials are awesome. I will take a note of your suggestions. Usually I tape my paper on my drawing board. It is tilted to 35 angle. As for shadows, I find it challenging to darken the color. It might lose its vibrancy. I like the way Wendy builds color. I’m trying to practice her technique. Again, thank you for your feedback.
