HI Marguerite, this is a good exercise. Thanks for taking the time to do this. In answer to your question is there a value 9 for yellow, the answer is no! Each hue can be seen as a value, even white for example. So if your hue is not dark enough, and no pure hue will go to value 9, you need to add something to get your darks and shadows. Even a white flower will use a bit of darker values to describe three dimensional form.
