Gorgeous. You really have a way with orchids. I love how you have the stem in the back fade into the background, add some nice interest to the composition. I love that you are showing so many views of the flowers, you can really get to know this plant through this drawing. That pulled-apart flower in the upper left is just great. I think you could add some little bits of darks hear and there to really make it come alive – just in some of the little v’s where the leaves meet the stem, and where the petals overlap at the centers. I wouldn’t do too much, but a little here and there could really things pop. Very nice work.
Beautiful details in those flowers, Machi!!! I LOVE the one that you exploded out so we can really see what’s going on in that central structure. I also agree that the “ghostly” stem behind is very effective. My only thought about this is that maybe it would sit more comfortably on a larger piece of paper? What do you all think? I sort of want those flowers to have some room to breathe and not be so close to the top edge.
Finally finished a page started back in the fall – a lot happened in between.
