Ooh amazing plant. Looks like you’ll learn a lot practicing these patterns. Will you show us different views?

Yes, Sam, I will attempt different views. Notice I started with the back because the front is too difficult. Planted it three years ago at the edge of the woods. It finally made it and this year has three flowers and beautiful leaves. Don’t want to cut it open until I try drawing it from different angles. Did research on the internet and discovered two botanical drawings of what is inside the plant. Trying to get the dark color right is a challenge. Am trying different things to depict the the stem, too. Lots of fun. Mary Jo

Love these flowers, Mary Jo! Can’t wait to see your drawings of the other views. When you have curling and rolling forms like the one on the right, be careful to follow the contours closely and try to keep your point of view steady.–this one feels a little exaggerated. The shading is nicely done, but I would sort of stretch or smooth out those lines so they are not so strongly curved.–just keep this in mind as you draw the other views. Think about the overall structure; not just the parts you can see. 🙂 Awesome work!
