I’m having trouble with adding color. I started with dark red to make the shaded areas, then added other reds and orange but ended up with a muddy mess. Should I have started with a brighter red, then added darker red for the darker areas? (I do kind of like my stem at least.)

@nanowoods I think some more bright colors like yellow or orange in the highlight area would help brighten this up, as well as some burnishing and saturation with red. I don’t think your shadow side is too dark or too muddy! I think it just needs a few more layers on the whole tomato. (And the stem looks really nice!!) Good work.
